On the Road Again...

After the Fulbright Orientation, I took the long car ride to York to get some well earned S-L-E-E-P. We made it to York by nightfall, and I was welcomed with a full night of S-L-E-E-P. At this point, we were meant to drive to Edinburgh, but we changed routes to avoid the brunt of driving, and stopped at Gretna Green (a place where the English would run to get married in secret across the boarder of Scotland, which is now a nice place to buy gifts). There we got tea, a large amount of gifts for family and friends, and some lunch, before heading to the Lake District where we stayed in a cute little haunted bed and breakfast (we didn't know beforehand that it was haunted, but we had later found a short TV episode on the grounds). There we met some friendly bed and breakfasters, I avoided trying blood pudding (a gross hockey puck made of blood that people somehow find appealing as a breakfast dish), and, sadly, met no ghosts.

From there, we moved onto Lancaster (pronounced with the emphasized "cas", unlike that of the PA Lancaster) where we spotted yet another castle! Fun fact, this castle was a fully functioning prison until 2011, and is still used for other official business today.

Although we did not stop, we got a few good drive-through pictures of both Lancaster and Chester (one of the really fun walled-in towns in England along the border of Wales). We once again drove to Bangor, where my dad and Chris dropped me off for the last time. I moved into my hotel, and off they were, home to the US.
